THE ELEMENTS AT PLAY is a 3 part installation on a jetty that celebrates the physical environment. It heightens visitors' awareness of the wind, the waves and the sunlight through interactive components. |
The Elements at Play, Brighton Jetty
Æolian Harp © hums in the wind. As the air movement varies so does the pitch and the volume. 5m high, marine grade stainless steel.
Sky Lines © displays designs based on the International Code of Signals. The sails interact with the sunlight, casting shadows that play across the deck and the water. 8m high, painted steel, tension membrane
Hydraulis Organ Pipes © are attached to the pylons at the end of the jetty. Variations in wave energy produce variations in the volume and tempo of the organ sounds. 3m long, stainless steel, powdercoat, copper organ pipes
